DIY: Change a cream lipstick to matte

I know what you're thinking, "Oh no, not another "do it yourself" post!" Wait, wait, wait, before you decide that this is not a helpful post. If you're a matte lippie lover such as myself, this post is for you! It seems like every cosmetics company is jumping on the matte lipstick and lippie craze, and you know it's going to far, when Youtubers and celebs are jumping on the bandwagon and branding their own matte lipsticks and/or lippies, from Jeffrey Star to Kylie Jenner. So, what do you do when you run out of your favorite one and you can get a hold of it, in a pinch, you can make your on matte lippie, of course!

Every diy tutorial or post that I have reviewed or read has recommended white translucent finishing powder, but I find that the powder dulls the lipstick pigments and leaves an ashy white "funeral parlor" film, both of which, I find unappealing and unattractive in photos.

Instead, try a combination of a matte pigment eyeshade in the same color as your cream lipstick and place the shadow over the lipstick.  Voilà! A cream lipstick into a matte lipstick in minutes. I chose NYX Cosmetis' Primal Colors in the shade "Red Hot" to combine with Milani Cosmetics' Statement Lipstuck in the shade "Red Label,"
but by all means try your favorite shades.  I have found out that this makeup hack works best with matte eyeshadows and pigments; and with a such a wide variety of brands to choose from, your options are unlimited.
